South Korean television company MBC-TV (Munhwa Broadcasting Corp), one of the major TV channels in South Korea, has been filming at the EJF for an HD documentary Calligraphy which is in two parts of 60 minutes each. The contents of the programme are described as: 'Calligraphy, the beauty and the symbols, we follow the ancient history of the writing, tracing the writing history and culture from the ancient both in the west and the east. We also follow journeys of Edward Johnston writing and how its beauty as "calligraphy" has been influencing us today.'
EJF director Gerald Fleuss and Board member Eiichi Kono were interviewed about the background and history of the Foundation, how it works in terms of what it does for the public and how it promotes a public awareness of calligraphy. The legacy of Edward Johnston and how his teaching has influenced us today were also discussed.
The documentary will be screened in South Korea on the 8th and 15th November 2007 at 11.00pm and a copy will be sent to the EJF subsequently.
